Shine a light: Mercedes develops COVID-19 breathing aid & joins ventilator efforts

We would like to shine a light on our client Mercedes who has helped to develop a breathing aid designed to keep COVID-19 patients out of intensive care.

The breathing aid, called Continuous Airway Pressure device (CPAP), has already been used in China and Italy to support patients with serious lung infections, such as pneumonia.

Mercedes F1 worked with University College London (UCL) to develop the potentially life-saving device in 100 hours. The devices will be tested at UCL Hospital before being deployed to hospitals across the UK.

Mercedes also joins several F1 teams in an effort to produce ventilators as part of the VentilatorChallengeUK consortium. The newly established consortium is a group of innovative organisations working together to scale up production of much needed ventilators for UK hospitals.

Well done to Mercedes for deploying engineers, factory space and know-how to this worthy cause.
