Peldon Rose

“The introduction of the TopBrewer coffee machines has been a key factor in attracting people to use the social space and interact across departments.  We have noticed that staff are more likely to relax and stay a while to chat over a cup of coffee to share ideas and collaborate, which is very important in our creative line of work.” Sophie Rutter, Front of House Manager, Peldon Rose

Peldon Rose select premium TopBrewer coffee experience for office refurbishment project

Peldon Rose has been delivering first-class office design and refurbishment projects in London for over 30 years. So when it came to refurbishing its own offices in Wimbledon, the team were able to draw on extensive experience and expertise to create a ‘home from home’ workspace to be proud of.

With a culture very much based on family values, Peldon Rose opted for a residential-style design to create a welcoming, homely environment that is future-proofed to facilitate collaboration and smart working concepts. Throughout the 60 week Cat A + Cat B programme, the team unlocked extra space in their home at Sterling House to extend the building footprint to 11,000 sq ft over four floors.

Creating a social hub with TopBrewer

The Ground Floor is affectionately known as the heartbeat of the space with a variety of meeting rooms and breakout spaces where staff can collaborate and work together away from their desks.  The main social hub is a central family-style kitchen space where two TopBrewer coffee machines are installed to provide first-class premium coffee and beverages to staff and visitors.

The app-controlled TopBrewer is engineered around creating unforgettable coffee experiences, allowing users to customise drinks to their exact taste. Two specialty coffee blends are on offer at Peldon Rose to provide ultimate choice and customisation; Amokka Crema – a medium roasted 100% arabica coffee with a honey-like sweetness, and Italian Note – a dark roasted coffee with hints of vanilla and a nutty finish.

Sophie Rutter, Front of House Manager at Peldon Rose comments:

“Our employees really rate the coffee from the TopBrewer machines and the hot chocolate is also much loved. The Italian Note coffee in particular has proven to be a very popular choice. The quality of the coffee has encouraged staff to grab a coffee at the office rather than visiting local coffee shops, which is a great incentive for the team.”

Elevating design

The disruptive nature of the TopBrewer coffee machine design has helped to encourage social interaction and collaboration in the kitchen space, as Sophie explains;

“The introduction of the TopBrewer coffee machines has been a key factor in attracting people to use the social space and interact across departments.  We have noticed that staff are more likely to relax and stay a while to chat over a cup of coffee to share ideas and collaborate, which is very important in our creative line of work.”

With its design-led, minimal aesthetic, the award-winning TopBrewer helps to create a streamlined look and feel to the kitchen area, leaving the worktop area clutter-free and the brewing equipment fitted in the cupboards below out of view. Peldon Rose opted for a classic stainless steel finish to the signature swan neck and accessories to complement the neutral, warm tones and straight lines of the space.

As the Ground Floor is also the main visitor and reception area, the TopBrewer also leaves a lasting first impression with clients and guests, providing a ‘wow’ factor and fresh coffee from the bean.

Sophie comments:

“Visitors are really impressed with the advanced app-control technology of the TopBrewer machines and often comment about the stylish design and how well they fit into the space.”

Unrivalled aftercare and digital services

Peldon Rose use CoffeeCloud to keep a digital track on TopBrewer’s performance and key drink trends and metrics. For example, CoffeeCloud shows that in the first 10 months, Peldon Rose consumed 26,900 drinks from its two units, with steaming hot water for tea being the most popular choice, accounting for 25% of drinks dispensed, followed by Americano, Flat White and Hot Chocolate.

Sophie comments:

“The fact that the TopBrewer also dispenses steaming hot water for tea is a big bonus for us as a lot of people enjoy a cup of tea or herbal tea and it means we didn’t need to invest in a separate hot water dispenser.”

From an operational perspective, Peldon Rose has been pleased with the service provided by the Scanomat team.

Sophie adds:

“Aftercare from the TopBrewer team has been really good. In terms of when we have a problem, an engineer usually comes out next day to resolve the issue. The machines are also really easy to use and some staff have even got the hang of how to refill and empty the machines when needed to avoid unnecessary downtime.”

Simon Bracken, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Scanomat UK & Ireland comments:

“Peldon Rose describe themselves as the Thinkers & Makers and this is certainly our own experience having worked with the team on past client projects as well as current schemes. We are genuinely delighted that they have selected TopBrewer as part of their own forward thinking workplace experience. Peldon’s mantra is “We Love What We Do” and this is perfectly reflected in the creation of this space and the culture of the people & business. We look forward to working with the Peldon Rose team on more exciting projects in the future.”
